The mother of ALL inventions

Is there an invention on which ALL other inventions are based - a kind of UR-invention? Yes, it exists - and you have it at home!

This invention made our modern world possible!

Invented 2000 years ago, by slaves in ancient Rome. Mandatory in the Christian church (because of sex!). Made popular by the French king Louis XIV. The strongest engine in the world is made of it. Strictly forbidden in a space station. Perfect for flirting. Very important at Christmas, and for NASA.

This thing is no longer needed today - but is sold as much as never before. What could that be?

The show is available in different versions from 20 minutes to the big evening gala. The most popular version lasts 100 minutes. For organizers: You can watch a short version of 18 minutes as a film - write to me!

THE  GRAND  COLLISION

Texas 1896.

In the middle of nowhere, the second largest city in Texas, CRUSH, is being built. It will only exist for one day.

This is a true story: two trains are racing towards each other at full speed. There is no one on board, not even train drivers!

At the point of collision 40,000 spectators are waiting, they have paid a lot of money for it. The event goes wrong ...

I retold this story spectacularly. There are only seven historical photos known, and therefore I had to stage over a hundred scenes.

The show lasts, depending on the variant, about 25-80 minutes.

THE  TRUTH  ABOUT  THE  MOON LANDING

The mother of all conspiracy theories is about the moon landing: Did it really happen, or was it staged in the studio? What do you mean?

I have been very busy with all these conspiracy theories, and came to the conclusion that they are all no good! So I invented my own story: Yes, they were on the moon! But had forgotten the camera cable!

My uncle Stanley Herbrich, NASA director, had to stage the pictures in the studio, of course top secret! My conspiracy theory is absolutly crazy - but people have believed it, yes they want to believe!

The show lasts 20 minutes, there is also a longer version with the theme Fake News. Even my uncle Stanley (represented by my brother Markus) can occur here!

THE  ADVERTISING  OVERKILL
- behind the scenes of the advertising business

Do you also feel flooded with advertising? I worked as a commercial photographer for decades, and I learned that advertising spoils the character. I am the proof! This show is my revenge.

In the first part I describe, from the point of view of an advertising photographer, how advertising is planned, what its task is and how it is realized. Although there is good advertising, but the problem is: There is simply too much advertising!

In the second part I talk about annoying advertising, lousy tricks, and simple stupidity. But advertising annoys too, because we allow that! And, that is also a truth: Ads can apparently sell everything, because we are manipulatable!

The show lasts about 80 minutes, there are alternatively shorter versions. I also test cat food on stage - if you want to join in - bring a fork!

HEROES  OF  OLYMPUS

The magazine STERN commissioned me to stage the Olympic Games in Athens to portray German top athletes as heroes of Greek mythology. It was the biggest STERN production of all time, and such will never happen again.

I have staged this series of pictures like a classic Hollywood film, with high show value: The Furies burn down a temple, Sisyphus has to drag the rock, Hephaistos rides on a fire monster, etc.

The genesis of the pictures, work with the prominent athletes, the funny adventures and amazing effects - all this is very entertaining, and also for people worth seeing, who do not care so much for Photography.

The show lasts about 70 minutes, and there are an additional one or two encores.

SPECTACULAR PHOTOGRAPHY
- and how it is done

Until I saw the movie "2001 - A Space Odyssey" by Stanley Kubrick, I was a normal photographer. But the powerful imagery of this film fascinated me, and from then on I wanted to do just as great pictures.

I present them in my show, and also how they were produced. Some pictures took a huge amount of work, with large teams and tens of thousands of dollars - and others were literally done on the kitchen table.

"A good photo is like the first sentence in a story - and that story is going on in the mind of the beholder." (This clever sentence is mine.) Storytelling is everywhere in my work!

This show lasts 80 minutes, its also  fun for non-photographers! You can even learn how to make a nice explosion on the kitchen table - without having to renovate.

Sheep in the lecture hall

GEO editorial staff: "Thomas, give us a picture on the subject of coaching!" "Oh no, Coaching I find a very stupid thing, completely overrated and a typical madness of self-optimization." I'm talking myself into a rage.

"Great, do just such a picture!"

It has become a very amusing story. And with a photo that always causes roaring laughter. I am always looking forward to this moment ...

This little show lasts 10 minutes, and is the most popular encore.
